Though I live in Indiana, I would like to express my gratitude to the men of the FDNY and all others that may have responded to the recent tragedy. Your work has saved thousands of lives this week and provided the nation with shining examples of heroism and humanity in the recent days. As I was shocked, horrified, and saddened by the events, watching your work and dedication has helped bring some light into this black time. You have aided more than those in Manhattan, you have saved an entire nation.I also wish to offer my deepest gratitude tthose brave men who, caring soley for the safety of civilians, made the ultimate sacrifice. I send to the families, my deepest condolences. So too do I send my sympathies to their second families, you, their company mates and fellow firefighters of not only the FDNY but around the nation. I also wish to offer my deepest gratitude tthose brave men who, caring soley for the safety of civilians, made the ultimate sacrifice. I send to the families, my deepest condolences. While sightseeing in lower Manhattan in late June, my friend and I stopped by the fire station near the World Trade Center to pick up a patch for her father, who is a volunteer firefighter. It was a very hot, humid day, and we were both carrying our babies with us. We were so grateful for the tremendous hospitality the firemen showed us, inviting us into the air conditioned office to rest, and refilling our water bottles. It was one of our fondest memories from the trip. I could never have imagined how this simple act of kindness would again touch my life. Though I do not know their names, may they know that my thoughts and prayers are with them. God bless all those who were touched by this terrible tragedy.

We, as a firemen, knows that we'r always facing death in each service, every moment. I just feel so proud to be one, to know what feels to serve, to jump with the alarm, to run, fight and sweat. I have never lost any of my brothers while im serving, but i just can say that will never be enough tears to cry that losted partners, but we will never stop on our effort to serve and to help people. I join lots of people who claim peace, and stop this unsense things. Make them live for ever in our toughts, in every service we'r called, in every night we pass. Don't let us forget about thems.

Having an Emergency background, my thoughts, prayers, and best wishes go out to all of you. You have responded to the most difficult alarm this country has ever had, and the phrase "above and beyond the call of duty" is certainly an UNDERSTATEMENT in this case. Best of Luck to all of you! Dear Brian, I hope and pray that more of your fellow firefighters return safely from the city. My cousin (your brother) Kevin is such a special, one-of-a kind of person. I am listening for news of his condition and keep waiting in hopes of better news. I would like to know how I can best serve the cause to clean up debris, assist workers, or help others to get back to normalcy. I have seen the best and worst in people this week, and I would at all costs choose to act for good from this day forward. The patriotism that this country feels today is perhaps something that firefighters feel every day of their lives.

A Firefighter's Prayer.....When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save some life whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child before it's too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert, and hear the weakest shout and quickly and effectively put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my every neighbor and protect his property. And if according to Your Will, I have to lose my life, please bless with Your protecting hand my children and my wife........My deepest sympathy to all of the wives and children who have lost a husband and a father....May the Lord comfort your pain and somehow heal your hearts.

Condolences and prayers to our Brothers of the FDNY. Even though we are on the other coast we have a close relationship to NYFD Brothers. We worked together at the Murrah Bldg. in Oklahoma City and made many good friends. Then we were brought together again during the Olympics in Atlanta and had many competitive volleyball games. Its amazing how close we have became from departments that are so far. I pray to god that the friendships that were made with our fellow Brothers will not come to a tragic end. We are standing by and will be coming soon with our Task Force to assist you with the recovery efforts and make new friendships as well as renew the old ones. May God Bless our Firefighting Brohters, Sisters and their families. May God Bless the USA.

I have read many articles & seen several programs on the bravery of the FDNY. After the horrific events of Tuesday, I was heartbroken to learn of so many firefighters trapped in the World Trade Centre. You guys have my most deepest sympathy & admiration, & I would like you to know how many of us here in Australia feel so helpless at your current plight. One of my ambitions is to get to New York, & I will certainly make a point of visiting one of your stations. Once again, we are all grieving for you & know that you will recover, but never forget. I sit here in silence not knowing what to say as words seem so meaningless. I hope for a miracle. Until I get to America, goodbye, for now.

Andy Smith District Chief Station2
LaPorte,Texas
In June of this year a group of high school students from the LaPorte High School Theater Dept. visited NewYork City. My twin sons were in this group and on one of their many escapades on Manhattan Island, they stopped by Station 54. Phillip and Bill talked to the shift that was working that day and asked if they could purchase some tee shirts for their father (me), their uncle Mike Boase (Chief), his wife Cindy (LIeutenant), and another uncle Steve Boase (Captain). I just wanted to tell thepersonel at Station 54 that they were very nice to my two sons and told them that if they would go and get them some food they would give them the shirts. My sons went and got the firefighters a large cheesecake from a deli down the street. and gave it to Station 54. The firefighter at Station 54 took my sons on a tour of the station and let them look at all the eqiupment there at the station. Both of my sons are in college now and when they saw that Station 54 was missing all the personnel of the working shift they were heartbroken. I want to express my sorrow and extend my condolences to the families of the missing firefighters. I would also like to extend my thanks to the firefighters of Station 54 for being so kind to my sons on their visit to their station. Sincerely Andy Smith District Chief Station 2 LaPorte Fire Department

I have been a firefighter for 16 years. If someone were to ask me what I thought a firefighter was, I would respond with a "New York City Firefighter". You guys are a firefighter's hero. FDNY epitomizes what the fire service is...or should be. Such transgressions to the firefighters of FDNY hurts me greatly. I have lost so many of my heros :(

To Brian, Kevin, your fallen brothers and sisters and to the rescuers who continue the search. A poem for you. A sea of stripes on the backs of your jackets. Your determination and compassion, somehow never flagging. Bucket by bucket, you hand to each other. Sister to sister, brother to brother. We've heard the tapping has stopped. But your courage never ends, to somehow find alive, a mother, a brother, a father, a friend. My heart aches for you, as does the nations. And we know that when you are through, there will be no celebration. So when you are tired and ready to fall, know that we are with you to help you stand tall.

although my family and i have not suffered the loss of a family member or friend in the "WTC", our hearts go out to those bravest who have given their lives and/or for those involved in the rescue. my family has always been strong supporters of the "F.D.N.Y" and we share in in the grief that the families of so many firefighters are feeling. years ago, we had many friends that were firefighters, most of which have retired by now, and we know first had what this job entails, we know of the sacrifice each firefighter makes each time the call comes in. each and every new yorker probably realizes this now, and we hope that all the citizens of new york continue to support the fire dept as well as its families not only now but in the future. now more than ever we must support those who gave their lives, and continue this support for those that risk their lives for us in the future... MAY GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY FIREFIGHTER, AS WELL AS THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF THESE - " THE BRAVEST" OF THE "F.D.N.Y."*****

Dear families of fallen NYFD, Every once in a while an event takes place where a nation is brought closer together by tragity and heroism. The attact on America was one of those events. Many people risked their lives to save other peoples. Many lost their lives trying. This event and these lives will never be forgotten. Future generations will read about this in text books just as do Pearl Harbor. The names maybe forgotten but the ultimate sacrifice they made to try to save another person will never be forgotten. We are praying for you and your fellow firefighters. Thank you for your devotion to your job and country. I just read about you in Newsday today. I once had a student in my preschool class (about 11 years ago) in Mastic, NY. His name was Kevin Shea and his father was also Kevin. He was injured in the first WTC bombing. I am wondering if this is the same Kevin Shea? If it is you, Kevin that I knew, I cannot believe that you would have to go through this again. If it is someone else, I am so sorry, too, for your injuries. I know the Kevin I knew was a firefighter for many years, not two as the newspaper said. Wasn't sure if it was a mistake. So sorry to go on so long. I am just so concerned for all of the firemen and women. I lost a cousin who was on the 105th floor of the WTC. It is so sad! All the best, Linda Szklarski

You may be a little beat up, but I'm proud as ever to see your picture in the paper this time! It's an honor to have known you. The Kevin I knew wouldn't let this stop him. Hang in there...you'll be back on your feet again soon. I can't imagine what this is doing to you emotionally but I know you'll be OK. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You're in my thoughts and prayers.........Paula

WOW , all of the folks in the fire departments in New York and across the US are unbelievable! You are the true heroes of this nightmarish tragedy and it is being recognized worldwide. Here in the Carribean we are constantly updated on the efforts going on at home. While it is frustrating to be so far from home and feel so helpless, our spirits are lifted as we witness your unfaltering dedication to helping people in need. Pride in being an American citizen has increased exponentially even on this little carribean island, specifically because of the actions of the people involved in the rescue efforts and those that support them as well! The Calling of Angels....Confusion and Danger was everywhere, But these brave souls did not care. Running up th etowers while others ran down, Praying to God they would reach the ground... They were Police, Fire and the Common Man, Just wanting to lend a helping hand... Reacting on instinct, not weighing the cost, No thoughts of themselves or if they would be lost.... Now Family, Love Ones and the Nation ask why? Why those so unselfish had to die... To some the answer is not clear, But I say they're angels, sent down to us here.... For they walk among us in our daily lives, They're Children, Strangers, Husbands and Wives.... Their ears attune to hear Gods call. Ready and willing to give their all.... So for their Love Ones left here, we all should pray, andknow they will meet again one day.... For they were put here with us as part of Gods plan, and with their work here done, He called them home again.... God Bless you all! You are our Heros!

I just want to relay condolences and prayers to all the BROTHERS, Family and friends to those who gave supreme sacrifice in last weeks tragedy, on behalf of the CCFD and our entire community. I had just gotten back from a week long ride with two of the best companies in the BRONX only to get a call a month later at about 6:00 AM to turn on the news. We all wish we could be there, but for the time being we give our support through prayer and collecting donations for the FALLEN BROTHERS FOUNDATION. I am at a loss for words. I can only hope that those who mourn for loved ones can feel our support, as well as support from the entire US, and the world. UNITED WE STAND.

I wish I could be there to say to you, I'll get you a cup of coffee, or you look tired, your need some sugar, I'll be back with some cookies. Kevin, I saw the articles in the papers and am thrilled to hear you are healing physically. There's one thing I can absolutely say about your concern if you were doing something purposeful at the time of the collapse--The mere fact that you were in that building means you were doing something purposeful. I know how big your heart is, my friend, and I know you were probably taking on a task 10 times your size because that's what you always do.

I teach Fire Prevention in the elementary schools in a small town. The other day during questions and answers, a child in the first grade asked if I had known any of the firefighters killed in the WTC. I paused for a moment and told the child that even though I did not know them as a friend, I had known all of them as a brother and sister. My department is small compared to most. 55 counting admin. We lost 2 brothers ten years ago in a structure fire. It was hard for us to go through CISD. But I pray for all of you firefighters, police and EMS workers to have strenght and courage always. We pray for you all everydays.

Everyone here on the west coast is touched by the events of September 11, 2001. I as a fellow firefighter and my brotheren here, stand with our fellow brothers in New York, we share their pain and grief and possiably, their rage, Remember the firemans prayer. Those boys are with us everywhere we go and they are watching out for us. These men are true heros, they did what they had to do without question, without hesitation, and paid the ultimate price, they gave their own life to save someone they probably didn't even know, thats a true hero. This is why we do what we do, and i am honored to be in this elite brotherhood. firefighters are not made, they are born. It's not what we do, it's who we are! My blood runs fire engine red and I have a maltese cross tottooed to my butt, I am a fireman, I fight what you fear!!!!!!!!!!

As for the lowlifes in Georgia leaving ignorant messages.....obviously there is too much inbreeding going on in Remerton!!!! WE LOVE YOU NYFD and NYPD!!!!!!!!

My name is Fred Zimny, I am the Manager of the United States Luge Team. Luge is the sledding sport in the Winter Olympic Games. The US Luge Team is interested in honoring the heros who lost there lives in the Sept. 11 tragedy by where NYFD patches on our jackets as we travelaround the world during the luge World Cup season. The Olympic Games will also be taking place in February in the US in Salt Lake City and this small tribute is important for us as we compete against the rest of the world. Can anyone tell me how I can purchase or obtain NYFD patches, or even better, patches from individual fire companies who lost members. I would appreciate any help with this. My e-mail address is zimny@usaluge.org or You can leave a message on my office phone (we are currently on the road as the season has just started) at 518-523-20711 extension 105. Again thank you for your help. Fred Zimny.

I don't know how to put into words the loss and sadness that I feel. It has been less than 1 month since the cowdardly attacks and I can't get the pictures out of my head. To all those who lost their lives and to all those who were affected by the events of 9/11/01, god bless and remember, everyone in the world is thinking and praying for you. From the Zettle family directly, words can't express the fellings we have at this time, but can only pray for you , your loved ones, and all of those who gave their lives trying to save others. God speed>

As a recently retired District (battalion) Chief and Acting Platoon (Division) Chief from the Toronto Fire Services, my heart felt sympathies go to all the members of the FDNY and the families of the brothers and sisters that made the supreme sacrifice on Sept. 11. I also belong to a local fire buff club and we have visited numerous FDNY stations in our 3 visits to your city and we always received a very warm welcome. Please let me know when the memorial service is going to be and I will certainly attend. I can be reached at davidmollison@yahoo.com Please take care and I wish you a speedy recovery from your injuries. The victims of this terrible tragedy were honoured at our nations capital, Ottawa, on the same day as the United States had the main one at Washington Cathedral. There were over 100,000 people attended to pay tribute. The entire world mourns the loss of life and we are all behind you 100%

I want to start by wishing kevin a speedy recovery and telling all firefighters everywhere - especially new york's bravest how much you are loved and appreciated. the world is a better place because of you. to those a$$hole cops in georgia, i agree with the guy who said that cops are much easier to replace - especially ones with THAT kind of attitude. how dare you put something like that on a site like this? perhaps you shuld now don some fatigues and go take your chances searching for osama - after all, the military is just a job too in your opinion! when i was growing up, i was always taught that you can always trust cops, but i have come to realize over the years, that cops can be bad, they can easily be corrupted, but firemen are good, trustworthy, and hard to corrupt. what can you do? pay them not to put the fire out? not likely. firefighters have always been there for me no matter what was wrong, and they give of themselves every day. my heart goes out to all of them - fallen and not.

The scope of loss we suffered on September 11th is just too much to comprehend. I've never had the honor of knowing personally any fire fighters. So, in a very small way, I have adopted Engine 54-Ladder 4 on 8th street in Manhattan. I'd never been to New York, but went there two weeks ago to give them a few things. Unfortunately, I was so overcome with grief at seeing the firehouse, I was unable to speak at length with the fire fighters on duty. The only thing I could do was pat a brother on the shoulder, tell him Texas is thinking of them always, and hand him a bag of items that hopefully give them comfort, even if for just a moment. Research on the Web shows E54-L4 has suffered the devastating loss of the following 12 brave brothers: Paul Gill.....Jose Guadalupe.....Leonard Ragaglia.....Christopher Santora.....Joseph Angelini Jr..... Michael Brennan.....Michael Haub.....Michael Lynch.....Daniel O'Callaghan.....Samuel Oitice.....John Tipping II.....David Wooley. I have no addresses for the familes of these men to send condolences to. If anyone wants to share a personal story or any information about this firehouse, the surviving or deceased brothers or their families, please don't hesitate to email me at ejones2001@msn.com. God bless you all.

Taylor.... no, you're awesome. :) But we didn't 'make' this foundation. We just added to the great work that had already been done by the firehouses all along, helping our own. We are just an extension of their work, making the shirts available to a wider reach through the web.
