Father, Husband, Firefighter

Dec. 3, 2001

When Engine Co. 26 of Midtown called Engine Co. 10 for an extra man on the morning of Sept. 11, Paul Pansini, of Tottenville, Staten Island, volunteered.

Pansini, 35, had served 11 years with the New York City Fire Department and was known for his giving nature.

The father of three married his high school sweetheart, the former Janice Richichi, and doted on son Paul Jack "P.J." and twin daughters, Anna and Claire. A black belt in judo, Pansini won medals at the Police and Fire Games in Pittsburgh in 1991.

"Anyone who knew him," said his sister Loretta Halpert, "knew him as a friend." Pansini also is survived by brothers Joseph and Robert.
