Airbus donates truck to FDNY Rescue Company 1

On April 11th, 2002, The New York City Fire Department proudly accepted the donation of a custom-built fire truck from Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer Noel Forgeard.

The new vehicle was presented to Rescue Company 1 located in Midtown Manhattan. Airbus donated the rescue truck after heeding Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's call for the private sector to aid in the recovery effort for New York City.

The 34-foot rescue truck is valued at more than $740,000 and is designed to carry specialized firefighting equipment. The specifications for the Saulsbury truck were written in part by Captain Terence Hatton, a 20-year veteran of the FDNY and captain of Rescue 1. Captain Hatton was among the 11 members of Rescue 1 who died on September 11, 2001.
