In the months after the WTC, a couple of my brother Sheriff's Deputies in my department travelled to NYC to offer support to the families of the police and firement who we lost at the WTC. In the process, they met the family of FF Foti and established a relationship with them.

I am proud to say that our department, in conjunction with the deputies who travelled to NYC, has set up fundraisers to fly FF Foti's and a NYPD Officer's family to Southern California this summer for a vacation. We will see to it that they are taken care of and that even though their loved ones are gone, that someone cares about them. I hope that I will get a chance to meet them when they come out here this summer.

Many of my brother and sister deputies proudly memorial shirts bearing the names of the Ladder 7 and Engine 16. We may be several thousand miles away and we our paths have never crossed, but we will never forget...
