    Posting email addresses and Privacy

I'd like to remind everyone that it is not a good habit to post your email address on websites.

That is a sure way to start to get junkmail. No, not from us. But, the spammers that send you junk have little programs that go out and harvest your email addresses from websites.

So, when you think that you are letting people communicate easier with you, you are actually letting the marketers and scammers know who you are.

There might be other privacy issues also, especially with minors and stuff.

So, please.... for your sake. Don't post your email address on 'any' website, including this one. If you would like someone to contact you from this website, they can if they are a registered member ----yet they still can't see your email.

As an example, pretend you want to email me. If you click on the profile button (just on the bottom of this post) you will see my profile. From there, you can click on a link that allows you to send me a message. However, you cannot see what my email address is. My privacy is protected.

This ends the lesson from the geek today. :P
