Flags over City of Surprise offices are being flown at half-staff this week for Surprise firefighter Randy Perry, who died at about 8:15 last night at his home. His family was by his bedside, said Kevin Pool, interim assistant chief for Surprise. Perry had celebrated his birthday on Aug. 9.

Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sunland Memorial, 15826 Del Webb Blvd. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday at North Phoenix Baptist Church, Central Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix followed by a procession back to Sunland Memorial for closing ceremonies. A reception will be held at Mountain View Recreation Center, 107th Avenue and Mountain View in Sun City.
