A 19-year-old firefighter with the Gott Volunteer Fire Department in Warren County, Kentucky was killed and a 17-year-old firefighter in critical condition after their tanker overturned during a tanker-shuttle drill Thursday night.

Kyle Allen Hendrick was trapped under the tanker after it overturned, the Bowling Green Daily News reported. He was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later.

The 17-year-old passenger, Shawn Fishback, was ejected and remained in critical condition at an area hospital Sunday.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Officials from the department could not be reached over the weekend.

Funeral services for Hendrick are scheduled for Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hardy & Son Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

On the department's Web site, Kyle Hendrick was listed as a 3-year-veteran. There are at least nine members of the Hendrick family who are also part of the department, including its Deputy and Assistant Chiefs. It was unclear late Friday what relation the senior members were to the victim.

Firehouse.com will have more on this story as information becomes available from the rural department in south central Kentucky.
