Final farewell for slain firefighter

Nearly a year after the attack on the World Trade Center that claimed the lives of more than 300 New York City firefighters, the family of one of them, former New Fairfield resident Christopher Blackwell, will get some measure of closure today.

A funeral service for Blackwell, 42, who lived in Putnam Lake, N.Y., with his wife and three children, will be at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury.

The service will include representatives from the department in which Blackwell served for 20 years and will be public. But the burial, at Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield, will be private.

"At least now I
