FDNY accepts New Rescue Rig from General Safety Equipment and Mack Trucks, Inc.

September 19, 2002 - Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta accepted the donation of a heavy rescue rig for use by the FDNY Special Operations Command (SOC) Battalion. The rig, donated together by General Safety Equipment of Wyoming, Minnesota and Mack Trucks of Allentown, Pennsylvania will serve the SOC Battalion for use in all boroughs throughout the city. In this team effort, Mack Trucks donated the chassis for the apparatus and General Safety built the truck on the donated frame with no cost to FDNY. Commissioner Scoppetta was joined by President of General Safety Equipment Kevin Kirvida, Michael McNally, the Northeast Regional VP OF Mack Trucks Inc., FDNY Chief of Department Frank Cruthers, and Chief of Special Operations Command Michael Weinlein. The donation took place outside of Fire Headquarters in downtown Brooklyn.
