New Charges in Death of Mineola/Long Island Firefighter

Mineola, Long Island - Charges have been upgraded to manslaughter against a woman who was arrested after an car accident that killed a firefighter putting away fire hoses.

Nassau County police say the accident occurred on March 25th in Greenvale, where members of the Roslyn Rescue company were finishing a training exercise.

Police say while two firefighters were rolling up hoses, a car went through the barricades and cones and hit them.

One firefighter - 30-year-old Alan Frye - was pronounced dead at North Shore University Hospital. The other firefighter - 26-year-old Christopher Baffa - was treated and released. Police say 41-year-old Elizabeth Bartfield of Forest Hills, Queens was at first charged with driving while ability was impaired. New charges of second degree vehicular manslaugter were filed against her today
