    The Springfield Fire/Rescue and IAFF Local 37 announce the death of Captain Joseph Rotherham of the Springfield Fire/Rescue. Captain Rotherham suffered a possible heart attack at the scene of a fire at 427 E. Iles Avenue.

    The Springfield Fire/Rescue was called to the fire at 1:29 am Tuesday morning, Battalion Two, Engine One, Engine Five, Engine six, Engine Seven, and Truck Three responded.

    Captain Rotherham was in the building with his crew, and came out of the building to replenish his air supply. He collapsed on the scene, and was treated by medical personnel, he was transported to St. John

    Initial Summary:
    Captain Rotherham suffered an apparent heart attack at the scene of a working fire. Tuesday January 21,2003 wake service at Bisch & Son funeral home 505 east Allen, Springfield,il. from 3 to 8 pm. 7pm firefighters walk thru. firefighters to be outside between 6 and 6:30. Wednesday January 22,2003 funeral service family only at 9am. Funeral service to the public at 11am at the Armory in Springfield. at 2nd & Monroe. rigs only for procession to be @Bisch at 9am. Marchers for procession to be @station 1, 9th & Capitol at 9:45am.
