    Doug Thomas, 41, Assistant Chief for Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department died Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m.

    On September 16, 2001 at 10:45 a.m. he was injured while responding to a boat fire along with other firefighters at Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester, Md., according to Fire Captain, Justin Davis.

    Initial Summary:
    Assistant Chief Thomas was injured on September 16, 2001, while responding to a boat fire at the Kent Island Yacht Club. The responding engine that he was operating left the roadway striking a utility pole and overturned. Since the accident, Assistant Chief Thomas had been in and out of the Shock Trauma Center several times. On July 9, 2003, he was removed from life support and passed away.
