    John P. Riordan, 64

    SHREWSBURY- John P. Riordan, 64 of S. Quinsigamond Ave passed away peacefully Mon. Oct 27th surrounded by his family in the University of Massachusetts Hospital.

    He is survived by sons, John P. Jr of Worcester, Jeffery C. of Fire Island Pines NY, and Brian A. of Boston; a sister, Gael A. wife of Arnold DeMaio of Hamden CT; his very dear friend Angelo J. Bosica in NYC; many nieces and nephews. A brother, William A. Riordan Jr. as well as two sisters, Mary-Joyce Schermerhorn wife of Richard, of Clinton CT. and Noreen P. McSherry wife of James of Southboro predeceased him. Born in Worcester he was the son of William B. Sr. and Agnes A. (Murphy) Riordan. He has lived here all his life.

    John worked as a Worcester firefighter more than 25 years before retiring in 1994. He was also a construction worker for the former Henley-Lundgren Company in Shrewsbury.

    A member of The International Brotherhood of Firefighters Union Local 1009. The Laborers Union Local 243, and The Worcester Fire Relief Association. John was an avid boater and windsurfing enthusiast.

    The funeral will be held Thurs Oct. 30th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Wed. Oct. 29th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Leary Firefighters Foundation, 594 Broadway, Suite 409, New York, NY, 10012.
