John A. Roughan, 93

WORCESTER- John A. Roughan, 93, of 3124 Post Road, Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Worcester, a retired captain in the Worcester Fire Dept., died Friday, Oct. 8 in Doctors Hospital of Sarasota.

He leaves his wife, Gladys M. (Hedge) Roughan; a brother, Rev. Richard F. Roughan of Waterford, Conn.; a sister, Teresa E. Dodd of Upton; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas J. and Mabel G. (McKeon) Roughan. He moved to Sarasota more than 30 years ago. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during World War II including service in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater for two years. Mr. Roughan served in the Worcester Fire Dept. for 31 years, retiring in 1972 as a Captain. He was assigned to Ladder 2 for many years.

Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
