Local F-85 Member Brian Dunlap Killed in Iraq

October 4, 2005 - The memorial service for Federal Firefighters Association Local F-85 member Sergeant Brian E. Dunlap is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, 2005, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Camp Pendleton Base Theater, 1330 Vandegrift Boulevard, Marine Corps Base-Camp Pendleton, California 92055.

Brother Dunlap, 34, of Vista, California was killed in action on September 24 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Taqaddum, Iraq.

Dunlap was a career fire fighter with the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Fire Department assigned to "B" Platoon, Fire Station 8, Cristianitos Area. He had previous fire service experience with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Dunlap deployed with Marine Forces Reserve's 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Los Alamitos. Sergeant Dunlap was called to active duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
