    Local firefighters are remembering one of their own who died suddenly.

    39 year old Timothy Parsell suffered a fatal heart attack while getting ready for an emergency call with the Collins Fire Company last Friday morning.

    Friends and colleagues say he devoted his life to helping others.

    Collins Fire Company Chief Frank Kusiowski, Jr. said, "He was nine or ten years old, so when his mother couldn't find him, he was either at the ball park or here at the fire hall, just helping out just to be around the fire trucks."

    Dan Macakanja said, "Even in the most serious circumstances of a meeting, he could throw something out there that could just crack everybody up. His humor is what I'll miss most."

    Visitation: Hills Funeral Chapel, 255 Aldrich Street, Gowanda, NY

    Wake: Monday, November 7, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

    Tuesday, November 8, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

    Fire Service Attendance is requested for Tuesday, November 8, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

    Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 9, 11 .a.m

    Hills Funeral Chapel

    Participation: Fire company processions are welcome at the wake. Fire service attendance is requested for Tuesday, November 8, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

    Although there will be no procession from the funeral, fire apparatus is welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday.

    CONTACT: Departments planning to attend the wake during fire service calling hours on November 8 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. -OR- planning to bring apparatus to the November 9 funeral service at 11 a.m. are asked to contact Collins Asst. Chief Dan Macakanja at 716-713-2455 for coordination and parking arrangements.

    Initial Summary:
    Captain Parsell received an alarm call for an EMS incident and was in process of preparing to leave his residence when he began to feel dizzy and light-headed. His wife notified the department of the emergency and they responded, provided BLS, and transported Captain Parsell to tri-County Memorial Hospital. While enroute, Parsell went into code and further attempt to revive him while in transport or at the hospital met with negative results. The ER doctor said the cause of death was very likely major heart attack, pending further investigation
