    A Pennsylvania Firefighter has died in the line of duty. The night of March 21, he incurred a fatal heart attack while performing Fire Company related activities alongside his car.

    Barry R. Levin, 58, was a charter member of the Glen Richie Fire Company in Lawrence Township. A present-day safety officer, he had previously volunteered as chief from 1978-2004, and was an active member of the Glen Richie Response Service since its inception in 1990.

    "Very untimely; very unexpected," lamented Chief Jas Catherman of Lawrence Township Fire Company #1. "It's been a tragedy to the entire county."

    Friends will be received at the Bennet & Houser Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9pm Sunday March 26, 2006.

    A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm Sunday at the funeral home by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

    A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Bennett and Houser Funeral Home. Fire Departments sending apparatus and representatives are asked to arrive by 10 a.m.

    Initial Summary:
    Firefighter Levin, a former long time Chief of the department, was performing Fire Company related activities when he was found collapsed in his car along the roadside. He was transported to the Clearfield Hospital where he died from an apparent heart attack.
