    According to the United States Fire Administration, Swanzy, N.H., firefighter David R. Packard died the day after responding to an emergency medical call on Jan. 11, 2006.

    Packard, 41, responded to the incident around 6 p.m. Jan. 10. After the incident he returned home. The next day around noon, he fell ill and notified his wife that a friend had taken him to a local medical center. At the center he experienced a "cardiovascular event" about an hour after arriving and died, according to the USFA.

    Initial Summary:
    Lieutenant Packard responded to an emergency medical call on 01/10/2006 at 1555hrs. At the conclusion of the incident, he returned home. On 01/11/2006 around 1200hrs, he felt ill and notified his wife that he had a friend taking him to the local medical center. He succumbed to a cardiovascular event at approximately 1300 hours at the medical center.
