New Jersey Firefighter Dies in Engine

EAST GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A veteran with the Mount Royal Fire Department died early Saturday while riding in a fire engine en route to a call.

Walter Fagan, a 10-year veteran with the department, went into cardiac arrest, reports indicated.

He received immediate care. However, he could not be resuscitated.

He was pronounced dead at Underwood Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday Jan. 4, in the McBride-Foley Funeral Home, 228 West Broad Street, Paulsboro.

Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday morning after 9 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
