    PENN HILLS, Pa. --

    A Penn Hills firefighter died Monday morning after responding to a fire call.

    Harvey Jordon began experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain at the Penn Hills No. 1 fire station.

    Fellow firefighers attempted CPR and he was taken to St. Margaret Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

    A representative for the Fire Department told Channel 11 the cause of death was an apparent heart attack.

    Jordon had been on the force since 2003.

    A memorial service will be held for Firefighter Jordon on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at 7 pm. at Wesley Center AME Zion Church, 2701 Center Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

    A private funeral service and interment will be held in North Carolina.

    The family requests that any monetary donations be made to: Penn Hills #1 Volunteer Fire Department in Firefighter Jordon's memory.

    RE: Line of Duty Death, Harvey Jordan

    While responding to the station for an automatic fire alarm he experienced shortness of breath. Brother Firefighters administered CPR and he was transported to UPMC/St. Margaret's Hospital where he passed away.

    A Firefighter Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
    Wesley Center AME Zion Church
    2701 Center Ave.
    Pittsburgh, PA 15219
    Those wishing to attend the Memorial Service are asked to arrive at the Church no later than 6:20 pm; Pittsburgh PD will assist with parking of Fire Apparatus in that area.
    Harvey, 71, preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Poindexter and sister Arnetha Melvin. He is survived by his father David Jordan and sister Edith Walton, both of North Carolina and Jannie Evans, cousin of Pittsburgh.
