Virginia Assistant Chief Suffers Fatal Heart Attack News

An assistant chief with the Dante Volunteer Fire Department died after suffering heart attack after being transported from the scene of a fire on Dec. 20, according to the USFA.

Assistant Chief Bobby Joe Mullins was operating with firefighters at a vehicle fire when he began to experience chest pains. He was then transported to Russell County Medical Center and then transferred to Holston Valley before going into cardiac arrest.

Attempts to revive the 52-year-old were unsuccessful.

Mullins is survived by his wife and four adult children.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
