The fire chief of the Steele Creek Acres Volunteer Fire Department died on Sept. 26; close to two weeks after an incident at a fire station left him in a coma.

Fire Chief Ed Mosley, 66, suffered a head injury after falling off the roof of a station he was helping rebuild on Sept. 14, according to KXXV-TV. The firehouse was damaged in a fire back in March.

He was transported to the hospital and doctors were forced to remove part of his brain after being diagnosed with a clot the size of his hand that had to be removed.

Family members held a prayer vigil for Mosley last Thursday night in Morgan.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
