    Robert P. Muhr, Sr., 89

    Worcester - Robert P. Muhr, Sr., 89, of Worcester, passed away, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at The Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.

    He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Celeste M. (Foley) Muhr; their dedicated children, Maureen Coakley and her husband Michael of Grafton, Kathleen LaRoche and her husband Paul of New Braintree, Robert Muhr, Jr. and his wife Katie of Douglas, John Muhr and his wife Donna of Nantucket, and Michael Muhr and his wife Kelly of Shirley, Maine; a sister, Jane Perron of Worcester; eleven grandchildren; two great granddaughters, nieces and nephews. A brother, George Muhr, predeceased him. Robert was born in Worcester, son of the late, George and Anna (Finneran) Muhr, and has lived here all his life. Robert graduated from Commerce High School and later served his nation proudly in the United States Navy during World War II.

    Robert was a Firefighter for over thirty-five years, with the City of Worcester, retiring from Ladder 5 in 1992. He was a member of Saint Stephen's Church and its men's club; the Vernon Hill American Legion, The Knights of Columbus, and was a Union Delegate for the Worcester Fire Department.

    Robert will be remembered by his family, co-workers and friends as a hard-working man, dedicated to his wife and family. He would work around the clock to provide for his family and allow his wife, Celeste, to remain home and raise their wonderful family. He enjoyed coin collecting, long walks and the simple quiet times with his family.

    The Muhr family would like to extend a loving thank you to the kind people at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Their care and compassion made Robert's last days peaceful and dignified.

    Calling Hours and Funeral Mass will be held in the church. Calling Hours, where family and friends may visit with Robert's family, will be held on Monday, Morning, November 28, from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. IN Saint Stephen's Church, 358 Grafton Street, Worcester, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment services will be held privately.
