Capt Terrence Hatton, on Oct 5, 2001, was remembered at a funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral as a hero and a role model. His wife, Beth Petrone-Hatton, did not discover she was pregnant until after Hatton died in the rescue effort at the World Trade Center. At Hatton's funeral, a letter from President Bush praised his service. The 6 foot - 4 firefighter, the son of a retired New York captain, was eulogized by the Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Hatton earned 19 citations for bravery in his 21 years on the job as a firefighter.
