Non-Line of Duty This forum is for all the Brothers who have fallen, but not Line-of-Duty. Anyone can post any info about a firefighter death, including retired Firefighters.

2009-06-18 Worcester Firefighter Norman L. Carlson Retired

Norman L. Carlson, 82, died June 18, 2009, peacefully at home after a brief illness.

He was born in Worcester, April 5, 1927, the son of Arthur L. and Ruth (Woods) Carlson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ruth, who passed in 2002. He leaves the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Grace E. (Svedin). He also leaves three sons, David and his wife Arlene, Michael, John and his wife Janet; and a daughter, Sharon

all of Worcester. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, Heather, Joshua, Eric, Christopher, Colin, Joseph, Marc, Derek, and Alek; and a great-grandson, Tyler. Norman attended Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a WWII veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne. He proudly served in Africa and Europe, participating in the invasion of Normandy. Norman was a Worcester firefighter for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He worked on Squad 1, Engine 13, and was a Chief's Aide in Car 4 and Car 2.

Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements. There are no calling hours, and services will be private.
